Notification to students and parents regarding class assignments and final grades.

Due to school being closed from March 18 through April 30 … or until further notice … the following information is being provided to parents and students regarding class assignments and final semester grades.  Currently students are scheduled to return to school on May 4. Upon return, instruction will resume and attendance and grades will be required for the remainder of the school year.  Should school not resume for the remainder of the year, the final semester grade will be based on work completed and grades posted prior to school being closed.  The information below is very important for students who were failing a class at the time of school closure and for seniors who have not completed all graduation requirements.

  • Four weeks of packets have been provided to you so that your learning can continue while school is closed.  It is strongly encouraged that you complete this work, keep the work completed and bring back to your teacher should school resume this school year.  Individual teachers will determine any extra credit that may be assigned for completing this work.  Reminder, this work is posted on the school website at www.cps18.org.  If you are unable to print off the packet, please refer to your school’s Facebook page for information on when and where you can obtain a printed copy or contact your office during working hours.

  • 6th-11th grade students who were failing a course for second semester on the last day school was in session will be contacted by the teacher no later than April 10 … with a listing of assignments and / or assessments that will need to be completed in order to earn a passing grade.  For example, students who had missing assignments, projects, papers, etc. will be given an opportunity to complete those assignments in order to earn a passing grade.

  • Seniors who have not completed a requirement for graduation will be contacted no later than April 10 with a plan for you to complete graduation requirements.

  • Students who are taking the following courses must complete the coursework to earn the final grade and credit for the course… Launch ACT Prep, Dual Credit Advanced College Writing, Dual Credit World Literature, Dual Credit Computer Applications, Dual Credit Trigonometry, High School Yearbook, and any second semester course with a failing grade on the last day school was in session.

  • Should the district not be able to hold graduation on May 17, the following alternate dates have been scheduled.  Graduation will be held on the first date that the country is no longer under a social distancing order.
